According to Caire:
“The Presbyterian Church was organized about 1870, located on west side of Davis Avenue. In 1883, a rectory was purchased from Alfred V Davis. In 1892, the church building was moved to the beach side of Seal Avenue. A hurricane damaged the property extensively in 1893, and was rebuilt. The 1915 hurricane completely destroyed it and the congregation started taking services at the Presbyterian Mission Church in Pineville on Menge Avenue.”
Note from Dan Ellis:
In one instance, from Wiegand Notes, Alfred Vidal Davis was described as being a Minister for the First Presbyterian Church. This seems unlikely since A.V. Davis was financially well off and also had sold a vacant lot to the Church Trustees for $1000, which was a substantial sum.
