Built circa1845 on 127 front footage
Set-back, diminutive, one-story, three-bay, frame cottage with inset gallery. Double-leaf doors with glazed upper panels service gallery. Originally built as a Garconniere for the main house next door at 709. Extensively enlarged on the rear and remodeled by the A. M. Dantzlers. The western-most bay of the gallery is enclosed. This home was written up in Along the Gulf by Charles Dyer in 1895, while describing former owner C.A. Pardue’s summer residence.
Historic Note: Alonzo Mayers Dantzler was an early timber businessman controlling 110,000 acres of South Mississippi forest lands. His father owned the L.M. Dantzler Lumber Company in 1888, one of the first large lumber mills.
